POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for all production aspects of the facility including coordination and setup of seasonal schemes, product quality, hiring/training & management of production employees, facility and personnel safety. Following and communicating the goals facility GMP, BMP plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Planning and scheduling all production activities in advance (what lines and processes are needed, what materials are needed, packing & shipping needed, on a given day based on anticipated work load).
  • Has a thorough understanding of time and motion as it relates to production and process efficiency
  • Direct Supervisors and leads in the efficient design and arrangement of work processes throughout the plant.
  • Supervising product standards and enforcing quality measures at all critical control points.
  • Diligently communicates with the production supervisors and leads to make sure all production processes are being executed correctly and all critical control points are constantly being monitored.
  • Provides direction and leadership to, assistant production manager, production leads, and supervisors.
  • Supervising the production process and taking responsibility for ensuring stated results are achieved at all times.
  • Anticipating material and human resources as needed ahead of time. Effectively execute production plans
  • Interview, hire, train, motivate, direct, evaluate, and administers discipline as required
  • Communicating with and collaborating with other managers effectively to execute the goals of the production department & E.C. Phillips & Son. Inc.
  • Supervising and inspiring team of workers and reviewing the work performance of subordinates. Provide accountability to the team for improved performance.
  • Verbally & through example constantly promotes product quality.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Employee Handbook, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HACCP, and Safety Procedures.
  • Participate and Lead in internal and external food safety audits.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:

Supervisory/management experience in the seafood or related industry preferred. Working knowledge in food/plant safety, product quality standards, management of people, general maintenance, logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication, team building, and organizational skills and experience

  • Understanding of basic operation/maintenance of equipment

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED is REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year College or University) preferred
  • HACCP certified preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated knowledge of seafood business
  • Outstanding Communication and Customer Service skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (email, word, excel, etc.)
  • Good organizational, including multitasking, skills.
  • Ability to problem solve with best solution results
  • Capabilities to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

REPORTING

  • Position reports to Operations Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position requires working in both a plant and office environment and is routinely exposed to extreme temperatures (heat and cold).
  • Must be available days, evenings, weekends depending seafood harvest and scheduled off loads.

Must Relocate to Ketchikan Alaska.
