Our goal is twofold: to provide NWFA members an environment in which to network business opportunities and to supply them with current information on state and federal policy, fish standards and quality control, transportation, and tax and environmental issues. The NWFA currently represents approximately 180 member companies, including primary and secondary seafood processors seafood brokers and distributors, and direct-support industry members.  These businesses, primarily from Washington, Alaska and Canada, produce a wide variety of fish and shellfish products, and distribute them worldwide.

Monthly Dinner Meetings and Special Events

Monthly dinner meetings (September through June) in downtown Seattle provide not only outstanding food and drink, but a chance for members to mingle and do business in a casual, fun environment. Dinner programs range from speakers addressing important legislative or regulatory issues to cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs. And we occasionally vary the programming by scheduling entertainers ranging from comedy to circus performers.

A board of directors supervises the association’s activities, which are managed by an executive director. In addition to the board, several active committees oversee specific association activities and events.

In addition to the monthly dinner meetings, we also organize annual special events for our members, including a summer golf tournament, a family night at a Mariners game, and a holiday party at which we honor the NWFA person of the year.

Additional Membership Benefits

Other membership benefits include a listing in our member directory on our web site and the opportunity to participate in our annual scholarship program for member company employees and their families. NWFA also provides access to a group health insurance program.

Joining the NWFA provides an excellent opportunity to become more involved with the seafood industry, stay better informed of critical industry issues, develop important business relationships – and have a good time.
