JOB TITLE: Compliance Manager
LOCATION: Astoria Oregon
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Compliance Manager is responsible for Food Safety, Occupational Safety and Quality Control within a seafood processing plant. The Compliance Manager will oversee all quality policies, plans, and procedures while giving direction to the Compliance Department.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for directing and training the QA Tech’s to ensure the quality programs and procedures are followed.
Will work with the new product development team to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met.
The Compliance Manager will also be an active member of both the SQF and the HACCP teams.
The Compliance Manager will identify opportunities for improvement in all phases of food safety and quality.
The Compliance Manager will manage the FDA and USDA HACCP plans and are the primary contact with the USDA and other regulatory officials.
The Compliance Manager will attend all weekly USDA meetings and will answer all non-compliances and generate appeals being responsible for the proper chain of command notification in the appeal process.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for the proofing process of all labels printed from our outside suppliers and in-house labeling, will create all required label applications required by the USDA and will format all labels and create the nutritional information panel.
The Compliance Manager has direct communication with the following venders: Chemical Purchasing, Pest Control and outside supplier of ingredient labels.
Will be an SQF Practitioner: As an SQF practitioner this employee will be employed on a full-time basis, hold a position of responsibility in relation to the management of the supplier’s SQF system, will have completed HACCP training, be competent to implement and maintain HACCP based safety plans and have an understanding of the SQF code and the requirements for implementing and maintaining an SQF system relevant to the supplier scope of certification.
• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to manage people and processes.
• Working knowledge of regulations that apply to seafood production.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be HACCP and SQF Certified.
