Established in 1951, the Northwest Fisheries Association (NWFA) is comprised of approximately 180 member companies involved in the seafood and seafood support industries, primarily in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and British Columbia.
Monthly dinner meetings (September through June) at Tom Douglas’s Palace Ballroom in downtown Seattle provide not only outstanding food and drink, but a chance for members to mingle and do business in a casual, fun environment. Dinner programs range from speakers addressing important legislative or regulatory issues to cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs. And we occasionally vary the programming by scheduling entertainers ranging from comedy to circus performers.
A board of directors supervises the association’s activities, which are managed by a full-time employee. In addition to the board, several active committees oversee specific association activities and events.
In addition to the monthly dinner meetings, we also organize annual special events for our members, including a summer golf tournament, a family night at a Mariners game, and a holiday party at which we honor the NWFA person of the year.
Other membership benefits include a listing in our annually published member directory (available in print and on our Web site) and the opportunity to participate in our annual scholarship program for member company employees and their families. NWFA also provides access to a group health insurance program.
Joining the NWFA provides an excellent opportunity to become more involved with the seafood industry, stay better informed of critical industry issues, develop important business relationships – and have a good time.
